About

Hi, I'm Jani.
I'm a New York–based visual artist working at the intersection of cultural and street photography.
My camera has taken me places I never expected. I've documented the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra performing at Carnegie Hall, been selected by Fotografiska Museum as their Foto of the Day, had my work featured by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and been chosen as one of 100 photographers worldwide for Photographize's [HUNDRED] Best Selected. My cinematographic work earned Official Selection at international film festivals, including the Big Apple Film Festival (New York) and the Studio City International Film Festival (Los Angeles).
But the work I'm proudest of usually starts on the street. I'm drawn to the in-between moments — the way someone carries themselves says more than any pose ever could. I shoot mostly in natural light, often during golden hour or right after the rain, when the city feels alive and cinematic. To me, style is identity made visible, and the street is where it's most honest.
New York is more than my backdrop. It's my open-air studio, my constant subject, and a character in every frame I make.
